Why should I seal my natural stone?

An impregnating sealer penetrates deep into the pores of the stone and grout providing a durable shield that that reduces the risk of a spill penetrating into the stone or grout. How can I tell if my stone needs to be sealed?
Apply a drop of water at least 1/2 inch in diameter to the top and the stone and let stand for at least 15 minutes. Cover with a glass to inhibit evaporation. If the stone did not darken then your stone is probably sealed against water-based stains.

What is an impregnating sealer?
An impregnator sealer is designed to penetrate into the surface of the stone. A penetrating sealer is like a coat of armor for your stone, tile or grout. A sealer will decrease the opportunity that anything can stain or harm your surface. Most natural stones are porous to some degree. A high-quality sealant helps restrict the absorption of water, oil, and dirt that stain and deteriorate the surface of the stone. Properly applied, a high-quality impregnator sealer will not affect the texture or the appearance of the stone

How often do I need to seal my stone?
If you sealed your stone with Top of the line Professional sealers and have maintained it with the proper daily cleaners your sealer should last up to 2-3 years. A periodic reapplication of sealer is necessary for proper protection of stone surfaces. There are many factors such as cleaning procedures and traffic volume that affect the longevity of the sealant.

How do I keep my stone clean?
We recommend using a ph neutral cleaner specially formulated for natural stone. Improperly formulated cleaners or those with acids may etch the surface of the stone.
