The Stone Medic's Restoration Services

Cleaning: Stone Medic's cleaning process typically involves the use of our high pressure hot water extraction n unit (up to1200 psi) providing for the most effective cleaning method for your stone. A through cleaning is crucial for a smooth looking uniform finish and proper sealing.

Grinding: A very aggressive process using metal-bonded and diamond grit to remove deep scratches and lippage. Usually performed using a heavily weighted floor-buffing machine with water to eliminate dust. This process is typically dust free. The goal is to flatten the floor.

Honing: Similar to grinding, but not as aggressive. Honing is completed after the grinding phase. However, many restoration and polishing projects are started at this level since honing will remove minor to moderate scratches and etch marks.

Polishing: Using finer abrasives, we achieve a very clean, highly reflective, shiny finish. The shine intensity can range from a "custom medium shine" to a very mirror like "high gloss finish".

Sealing Marble, Travertine, Limestone Stone Medic uses high grade penetrating (impregnating) sealers. Their function is to absorb into the pores of the stone and fill them up. Tight pores help keep spills on the surface so they won't soak in. Although penetrating sealers are not bulletproof, they are essential in keeping acidic spills on the surface to prevent acids from eating away the underlying layers. While Topical surface sealers are appropriate for some types of natural stone, they ARE NOT RECOMMENDED for Travertine, Marble or Limestone.

Chip & Crack Repairs Have a chip, crack or broken tile? Stone Medic often times can repair your tile and blend it in with the surrounding tiles to match the surrounding surface.

Grout Restoration Your grout unmistakably influences how your floor, countertop or other surface will look in the end. The Stone Medic can replace, restore or repair grout as the need dictates to provide that finished look to your surfaces.

Stripping - To remove coatings that block stone's ability to breathe which causes spalling (when the stones crack, pop and shale). Some examples of common coatings are, crystallization, janitorial waxes, polyurethane, etc.
